December Letter From Mrs. Daphne,

We begin our winter season with much joy as our students of all ages continue to enjoy their weekly classes and are beginning to work on their recital dances. Each age and level at the studio has it’s own special place at Dove Dance and our staff is so blessed to be a small part of each of their lives.

Our classes will be closed for Christmas and New Years from December 22nd through January 4th. We will have Christmas parties during the last 20 minutes of class the week before we close from December 15th through the 21st. Parents can sign up in the lobby to being a treat or drink on their dancer’s class list.

Our traveling company will be performing on December 6th at Northpoint Baptist Church at 10:30 AM as well as on December 20th at Church of the Harvest OKC Campus at 6:00 PM. Three of our senior company dancers will perform at their home church, Cherokee Hills Baptist Church on December 13th at 10:30 AM.

After the holidays, Dove Dance will be preparing three performances: our solo performance concert, “Love Stories” Dance Concert exploring the various types of life’s loves, and the classical ballet “The Gift”. Details on dates, locations, and tickets will be posted soon.

Our traveling company recently returned from Las Vegas where they enjoyed taking classes with Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, and other top choreographers. Some of our students also enjoyed the DMA Fall Convention held at OCU this past month. Our own Miss Dance of Oklahoma, Jr. Mister, and Petite Miss all assisted in auditions, warm-up, and performance. We are so proud of you all!!

If you are interested in taking a class, we would love to have you!! We are taking new students through December 15th! Please call our office at 773- DOVE or email me directly at dovedanceokc@yahoo.com

Have a Blessed and Warm Christmas,

November Update from Mrs. Daphne

Our fall has gotten off to a wonderful start! We are already in week 11 of our dance year and the students are progressing in their skill, learning new dances, and enjoying Christian fellowship with other students.

Ballet Magnificat! weekend was wonderful! The performance was beautiful and carried the presence of the Lord. The ministry time after the performance was sweet and God’s Spirit touched many hearts. The workshop went well as many dancers enjoyed classes with the company members. It looks like a handful of our students may be making a trip to Jackson, Mississippi this summer for their summer intensive program! For more information, go to balletmagnificat.com

Most of our classes are full but we still have room for teenagers on Thursday evenings, adults on Tuesday evenings, and a few slots open for other dancers ages 3 and up throughout the week in our other classes. Please email us or call our office for availability. We would love to have you join!

Congratulations to Emily Canavesio for receiving the OK/LA student scholarship through class audition. Both Emily and Rachel Tice were invited to dance with other area dancers in the opening number held at the Coca-Cola Events Center in Bricktown. Great job girls! Congratulations to Emma Harris for being accepted into the University of Oklahoma’s Youth ballet program. Congratulations to Madison Pride, former Dove Dance Tulsa student, for winning Miss Teen OCU and a $22 thousand dollar college scholarship. And, too, congratulations to Allie Renner, Emily Williams, and Claire Harris for being cast in the Oklahoma City Ballet’s “Nutrcracker”. We are so pleased to see our dancers continue to excel and expand their experiences. May God be honored in all we do.

September Update from Mrs. Daphne

YES! We are still accepting students!

We have added classes to insure your dancer will have quality instruction with ideal teacher/student ratio. We are also pleased to offer the finest in degreed and certified staff and custom built facility while also maintaining one of the most economical tuition scales in the region. We maintain strong Christian standards in environment, movement, costuming, and music selections.
Our dance season has begun with a freshness and focus that I am so pleased to see. Our teen technique classes ministered at the City Rescue Mission in early September. The chapel service was wonderful and we were truly blessed! Our company ministers in dance at The Children’s Center in a few short days. We are so excited about spending time with the residents and staff!

Ballet Magnificat!, the world’s premiere professional Christian dance company, will be visiting us soon.
Their performance, “Deliver Us” will be held at Church of the Harvest, 6800 North Bryant, OKC, OK 73132 at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 16th.

A two day workshop taught by the company members will be October 17th and 18th for ages 8 through Adult. Classes will include: ballet, variations, worship, and jazz. We welcome all dancers in the region to attend. Registration is $100 for the weekend which includes one ticket to the performance. Tickets for the performance are $7 for general seating and $15 for VIP seating. You may purchase tickets at the Dove Dance office during regular hours or call Daphne at 405-834-2264. Seating is limited so we highly recommend advance ticket purchasing.

Our ballet department begins rehearsals for “The Gift” soon as we anticipate God’ s hand in this beautiful Christian ballet written by my mentor, Arnora Hummel. We are so blessed to have permission to perform this ballet as it has been viewed by audiences worldwide through television premiere.

Again, if you are looking for a dance class, please email us or give us a call. We would love for you to join us!

Many Blessings!

Congratulations to all of our students for being a part of “Advancing the Kingdom” Recital. Everyone did an amazing job and we heard many compliments “This was the best one yet!”. Many people were ministered to in the audience as the Lord moved on their hearts in very personal ways. All thanks to the Lord for His grace and strength. We also appreciate our parents and our wonderful staff! Great job everyone!

Join us this summer for dance camps we have planned for ages 3 & 4, 5 & 5, and 7 through 12 being held on June 8th through the 12th. We also begin our six week summer session on June 20th through August 1st. We hope you will come dance with us and enjoy the fun and refreshment a dance class can bring. Winter Update

Wow! 2009 is off to an exciting start! Our classes are beginning to work on their annual performance dances. Our 16th Annual Recital will be at Oklahoma City University on May 16th at 2 PM and 7 PM. We hope you make plans now to come!  Our ballet department will be presenting the original Christian Ballet “The Gift” this spring. “The Gift” has aired internationally on television for four years through our sister school, Academie de Ballet. We are honored to have permission to bring you this breathtakingly beautiful ballet once again!

Our Christmas Program in December was a huge success. We had the honor of dancing for The Angel Tree Party for children with an incarcerated parent/s. It was a huge blessing for our dancers. We also performed our “Classic Christmas” for our family and friends. Over 60 dancers were cast in this year’s spectacular.

Congratulations are in order for Madison Pride who was accepted into the six week summer intensive in New York City at the American Ballet Theatre. Many would argue that this is the highest honor in training for aspiring ballerinas in the country and Madison is one of a few select young ladies graced with this invitation.

Marissa McCurtain won the acrobatic scholarship at DMA Oklahoma Chapter in November. We are also happy to announce that Savannah Tardibono recently won interview, talent, and onstage question/evening gown at the 2009 Oklahoma Junior Miss Scholarship Program. She was also recently accepted into the prestigious OCU Dance Performance Program with scholarship and received the overall audition scholarship for DMA Oklahoma Chapter in November.  May the Lord continue to shine in our girls as their levels of influence increase for His purposes.

Six of our dancers performed in the Tulsa Ballet and Oklahoma City Ballet “Nutcrackers” this season: Emma Harris, Claire Harris, Madison Pride, Meghan Bradley, Allie Renner, Destiny Teitjen, and Emily Williams. Samantha Maloy, Jordan Eischen, Emily Canavesio, Savannah Tardibono, and Rachel Tice assisted in dance worship for their home churches this Christmas as well. We are still receiving positive feedback from our China Mission Trip in August.  Thank you again to all of the families and businesses who supported our efforts.

Our enrollment for summer and fall ’09 will begin soon. We are expecting yet another full year and hope you will consider being a part.  Check our website on occasion for new schedules and updates!
