New to our Website and researching area studios?

We hope our website gives you an overall vision and feel of what Dove Dance is all about. We have been serving OKC families for 17 years and have enjoyed ministering to our student’s hearts and also teaching them to have a heart for others through their dance. Our vision has always simply been based on Psalm 149:3, “Let us praise His name with dancing”. We are a classical ballet-based studio, offering as many classical ballet classes as a ballet company’s school. In addition, we offer strong training in jazz, tap, lyrical, and more. Our students have been recognized for their achievements in many styles and in many venues at regional, state, and national levels. If you have any questions about training methods, our leveling program, or special goals or thoughts for your dancer, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Select from our class schedule which consists of over 85 classes.This gives you multiple options for scheduling, class styles, and keeps your dancer with other students close to his/her own age. • Special thanks to our parents, students, staff, and supporters for helping our annual recitals and ballet performance! Guests filled over 2700 seats on our performance day as each class danced wonderfully! The Lord graced us with a beautiful and powerful ending to our dance season. Heartfelt thanks to Pastors Kirk & Nancy Pankratz for opening up their facility when we were in a time of unexpected need. The facility & assisting staff were stellar!
• Performance DVD’s are available for family and friends through Lifetime Videos at 858-TAPE. Please call Mike directly to make your order.
• Pictures are available online at laskeimages.com
• June Company Auditions are Saturday, June 12th and June 26th at 6:30 to 7:30 for ages 8-11 and 7:30 to 8:30 for ages 12 through 21. Please come to the first audition if possible. All dancers who wish to be considered for 2010-2011 Company must attend an audition and adhere to the following:
1) to fully commit to our handbook to the best of her/his ability, with special attention given to attendance, dress code, conduct, and order of commitment.
2) study dance at Dove Dance in the summer and fall dance season – minimum 1 ballet class in the summer, & 2 ballet classes weekly for ages 10 and up, and jazz in the fall. We recommend tap, lyrical, and or acro as well.
3) be available for 2 to 3 ministry performances for the season with one months notice and DMA PAC competition in the Spring in OKC or Tulsa.
4) $50 fee per company member due

Annual Student Performance
June 5th is our annual student performance with all of our classes sharing their dances and Christian faith for family and friends. Join us at 6800 North Bryant Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73121. “The Gift”, a Christian Ballet, will begin at 1:00 PM. “No Greater Love” will begin at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Dances will celebrate the love we have for God, our Country, and others. Admission is free.

Young Children’s Dance Camps
June 14th, our Dance Camps for our 3 & 4 year olds and our 5 & 6 year olds begins. Camps include ballet, jazz, tap, costuming, devotion times, praise dancing, and more! Spaces are limited so early registration is encouraged. Friends are welcome!!

6 Week Summer Session
June 21st our 6 Week Summer Session Begins. Please go to “schedule” on our website.

“Intensify” Summer Dance Convention
July 23-25 Dove Dance kicks off the premiere year of our Summer Dance Convention “Intensify”. Held on the campgrounds of Youth America in Oklahoma City, dancers will come together for three days of dance, worship time, and recreation. Dancers will also enjoy swimming, rock wall climbing, beach volleyball, and more! Multiple performance opportunities will be open as well. Boarding and meals are included in the economical rate we have put together with family summer budgets in mind. The convention is open to ages 7 through Adults and beginner through advanced levels are all welcome. See “summer schedule” for more information. Registration for “Intensify” will be online soon.

In Loving Memory of Jimmy Crowell
I entered the first dance class as a very shy little girl. I was afraid to talk to people and the world simply seemed like too big of a place for me at the young age of seven. Yet Jim greeted me with a smile. I remember one of my first classes, Jim had me stay late so he could teach me a turning pas de bourree that I simply could not execute. He would not stop until I had it. I wanted to cry but didn’t. I knew he cared, and behind my young tear filled eyes, I was deeply grateful. This was the beginning of a long and fun filled ten year journey of learning tap and jazz from a man who simply loved to dance and loved to share it with others. For over 50 years, alongside his wife, Carol, Jim taught his dancers to be positive, carry themselves with grace, and celebrate the joy of life. He never had children of his own but treated each of his students as though they were his. At his memorial service, there were adult young women I recognized from my earlier dance years. Some were still dancing, and some were not. Yet they were all still filled with grace and poise and together we celebrated the life of a wonderful man. Jim, we love you and look forward to dancing with you again someday. You were a wonderful example of a faithful husband, Christian, and artist.
